HAMR Industries Receives STTR Phase IIS for Optical Limiting Technology

HAMR Industries LLC is excited to announce the initiation of a Phase IIS STTR program, funded through Army DEVCOM. This two year program will demonstrate the tailorability, survivability, and scalability of optical limiting technologies. Directed energy weapons (DEW) are under development by a number of nations, and the protection of our warfighters and their assets is a critical need for unhindered operation in sea, land, air, and space. It is anticipated that counter-directed energy weapon (C-DEW) technology will be an important facet for the modern battlefield and HAMR intends to provide this technology to our nation’s military. HAMR has successfully demonstrated high performance optical limiter concepts through its Phase I and Phase II STTR programs and will continue this work with an emphasis on further demonstration and transition in Phase IIS. The Applied Research Laboratory at Penn State University has been subcontracted on this work to utilize their robust facilities to carry out deposition and analytical characterization of HAMR’s optical limiter designs.

Though developed for DoD applications, this technology also provides a number of commercial uses include satellites, optical and free-space communication systems, laboratory optics, and safety systems. The Company is eager to begin this next phase of work and begin adapting the technology for customer applications. If C-DEW or optical limiting is important to you, your customers, or your end users, please do not hesitate to contact us to learn more!
