HAMR Turns a New Page
Major construction at HAMR Industries’ new Neighborhood 91 (N91) location has come to a close, commencing the start of a new chapter for HAMR full of exciting opportunities. What started as an empty space has transformed into a complete and functional work environment where HAMR will expand our team and capabilities, particularly in additive manufacturing (AM). In the most recent news article, HAMR reported the installation and calibration of the new WarpSPEE3D system. As mentioned, this system will continue to be calibrated on a host of different alloy and composite systems, including ferrous and non-ferrous alloys, cermets, and refractory alloy systems. Initial work will focus on supporting ongoing SBIR/STTR and IR&D efforts towards commercial and defense needs. More can also be learned about the system and our thrust areas in this article. Our Mission (brief): As a materials focused R&D company, we strive to tackle the most challenging materials science and engineering problems of our generation and focus on this application driven development with passion and integrity. HAMR’s core expertise lies in Additive Manufacturing, Advanced Coatings, Optics & Electromagnetics, and Computational Materials Engineering. Combining interdisciplinary employee backgrounds, computational and experimental approaches, application focused development, and an emphasis on collaboration, HAMR ensures the highest likelihood of adopting our technology to the market. This mission will only be enhanced with our recent expansion!
Opportunity: With this new expansion, HAMR is positioned to grow with the hiring new personnel and acquiring new capabilities, further pushing what is possible. N91 promotes the consolidation of the relevant AM companies to support all areas of that ecosystem. For example, inert gas suppliers, powder feedstock suppliers, and a number of AM-focused tenants have been established, including HAMR as one of the original tenants. In this vein, HAMR brings its materials development expertise and combined computational-experimental driven strategy to the community, along with its WarpSPEE3D large format cold spray AM system and custom-built large format direct ink write ceramic AM system. Located at the Pittsburgh International Airport, N91 offers the potential for rapid part deployment to customers worldwide. The campus leverages not only the tenants capabilities, but the legacy capabilities of the broader Pittsburgh region, including Universities, Manufacturers, and other Government and Research Entities. The advantages and opportunities from our expansion are clear and HAMR could not be more excited for this new chapter.
